Sternwheeler Distillery is a family-owned craft distillery producing brandy, gin, vodka, moonshine, liqueur and schnapps from 100% Creston Valley fruit. All products are grain free and have natural colours and flavours. They have also recently expanded into selling canned saskatoon juice which is a non-alcoholic option. Founded in 2017 as Wynndel Craft Distilleries and starting their sales at Farmers Markets in the Kootenays, the Owners quickly recognized the need to expand their operation and in 2025 they moved into town and set up their highly visible and accessible main street location in Creston. This business consists of an established lounge / tasting room for patrons, a designated distillery area, warehouse and a barrel aging area which is on the lower level of the building. Products are sold onsite, online, at various farmers markets throughout the Kootenays as well as being shipped to established suppliers in BC and Alberta. This is the only distillery in the Creston Valley and one of only a few in the Kootenays. They have received Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition Medals every year since 2020.
